Our decision
We reviewed Headway in October 2026, when we considered adding one of its demo trading contests to our competitions calendar. We decided not to list Headway or its contests.
Our reasons, in order of weight:
- Malaysia's securities regulator has an official alert about Headway.
- Trustpilot displays a notice on Headway's page about a breach of its guidelines and removed fake reviews.
- Headway's contest terms leave unclear whether a general withdrawal condition in its client agreement applies to contest prizes. We could not describe the prizes accurately as freely withdrawable.
This is an editorial decision about our own listings. It is not a legal finding about Headway.
What we found
1. A regulator alert in Malaysia
- The Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) includes "Headway" on its Investor Alert List. The entry links the hw.online website, Headway's Instagram and YouTube accounts, and its trading apps.
- Remark: "Carrying on unlicensed capital market activities of dealing in securities".
- Date shown by the list: 2025.
- The SC describes the list as naming unauthorised entities and individuals, and says it is not exhaustive.
- The International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) republished the warning in its I-SCAN alerts database on 6 January 2026, in the category "Unregistered/Unlicensed entity offering financial products or services".
This alert concerns Malaysia and Malaysian securities law. It is not a finding about other countries, and it does not say that Headway committed fraud.

2. A notice on Trustpilot
- On Headway's Trustpilot page (hw.site), Trustpilot itself displays two notices:
- "This company’s rating is unavailable due to a breach of our guidelines."
- "We’ve removed a number of fake reviews for this company."
- Trustpilot's notice does not say who wrote the removed reviews, and we don't suggest who did. We do not use Trustpilot's reviews as a rating.

3. Unclear terms for withdrawing contest prizes
- How Headway presents its prizes:
- The contest page calls the prize "completely withdrawable".
- Headway's help centre says: "There are no deposit requirements to withdraw your winnings".
- What the contest terms say:
- Prizes are credited to a real Headway account and withdrawn under the withdrawal policies of Headway's client agreement (contest terms, section 4.4).
- To receive a prize, the contest account must finish above its starting balance (section 4.2).
- What the client agreement allows (section 2.7): in general, Headway may charge additional administrative and processing fees, or reject a withdrawal, when a client asks to withdraw funds without "sufficient trading activity", as Headway judges "at its sole discretion". The clause applies to the client's trading account in general.
- What remains unclear: the contest terms refer to the client agreement, but do not say whether section 2.7 also applies to withdrawing a contest prize.
- So it is uncertain whether a prize can be withdrawn without trading first.
- We do not conclude that it cannot.
- We are not aware of any specific case where Headway applied this clause to a contest prize, and we do not suggest one.

Verification limitation: Headway's licence claim
- Headway's website and client agreement say that JAROCEL PTY LTD is authorised and regulated by South Africa's Financial Sector Conduct Authority (FSCA), licence number 52108.
- We tried to check this in the FSCA's register on 17 October 2026, but the register search displayed a maintenance notice. We have therefore not been able to confirm the licence, its status or what it covers.
- This is a limitation of our review, not a finding against Headway. It was not a reason for our decision, and we do not suggest that the licence is invalid or does not exist.
- An FSCA licence applies to South Africa. It would not by itself mean that Headway is authorised in other countries, such as France.

What this means for you
- Check whether Headway is authorised where you live. In France, use the AMF and ACPR's REGAFI register and the AMF's warning lists.
- Before trading or entering a contest, read Headway's client agreement, including section 2.7 on withdrawals. If it matters to you, ask Headway in writing whether that clause applies to contest prizes.
- To withdraw anything, including a prize, Headway requires a verified profile, and payments go only to an account in your own name.
What we could not verify
- Whether FSCA licence 52108 is current, and what it covers (register unavailable on 17 October 2026).
- The company registration of JAROCEL PTY LTD (South Africa's company register requires a login).
- Whether section 2.7 of the client agreement applies to contest prizes.
- Headway's regulatory position in countries other than Malaysia and South Africa.
- Minimum withdrawal amounts, which Headway shows only inside a client's account.
